The burden of knowing
I know the sacrifice of giving
the emptiness in fulfillment
I’ve seen boulders smitten by pebbles
Oceans tamed by rivers
I have found meaning, that is meaningless in the songs of light
I know of quests that laid bare the truth of my wanderings
I feel the turmoil that never eases within my rest
It is the quietness of the wind that chastises the howling within
I have discovered riches that have not made me wealthy, but an avalanche from mountains behind us
I feel the courage that has not made me any braver
I found selflessness that defined my selfishness
An incomplete promise that was spoken and bequeathed with no words, but the with the sacrifice of sanity and flowers for the living.
