This is not the land of milk and honey.
Here you will not find nourishment & sweetness.
You will only be met by decades of bitterness. Fleeting cheer only appears at the sight of money
and quickly disappears at the unsightly sight of bills.
Food and shelter are only attained through “realistic” survival skills.
Passion doesn’t pay the bills and the work-life balance is a great lie.
“Unrealistic” dreams are asphyxiated & they come here to die.
Souls are broken daily by taxes & unfulfilling toil,
in a world where humans pay to live on God’s freely given soil.
At the top of each morning wailing & exhausted bodies are dragged out of bed.
Only to find rest when they are no longer productive or dead.
We are traders that barter our lives & health
for elusive, inflation-driven driven and unattainable wealth.
We are the modern-day slaves of the top one percent,
hamsters on the capitalist wheel pursuing a “good life” until we are spent.
