The hibiscus tree by Olivia Wright

Poem

A hibiscus tree
that blocks the light from my window
twisting branches
that scrape against glass in the wind
A white and yellow hibiscus flower
that tumbles to the
dusty ground
as I stare tearfully
out of the misted window
Blink
It’s passed
wipe the mist away
with my coat sleeve
It’s passed
Branches trimmed back
the white and yellow hibiscus flower
drifts aimlessly through the air
