Some days it’s as if you were here only a moment ago,
Other days it feels like forever since you left us.
There are days when missing you hits like a lightning bolt to the heart,
The pain sears through our bodies and we cannot breathe,
The dams behind our eyes overflow and run down our cheeks,
And our entire world crumbles beneath our feet waiting for a moment where you are with us again.
Most days we are able to tiptoe passed the pain and loss of you,
Living life the way you would want us to.
We would wish you were with us,
But the pain wouldn’t have a tight grip on our hearts.
We would pop in to see Grief waiting to be set free of its cage,
Kindly say hello, and leave without letting her out.
We miss you dearly, don’t think that would ever change,
And we love you more than words could ever explain.
But we are continuing your legacy and living life the way you did,
Living each day, taking risks and enjoying the little moments that remind us of you.
