The Moth And The Flame by Refiloe Khumo

Poem

I thought you and I were playing for keeps,
when you scorched impassioned kisses on my lips.
Your seductive words filled me with desire
and swiftly set my entire being on fire.
I became the foolish moth that chased your irresistible flame,
unaware of your sinister intentions & the nature of your game.
Gleefully I danced around your flame of insincerity
while you took full advantage of my naivety.
Slowly and carefully you incinerated my innocence and mocked my pure intentions with your indifference.
The fate I thought we sealed with our first kiss became a pile of cold ash instead of eternal bliss.
