I lay,
my head in your lap,
Looking up into your soft,
green eyes…
Soft hands
caress my hair,
like answered rain prayers,
I feel the waters stirring in the wilderness
the rivers bursting in the deserts of my heart.
You are a seamstress.
You bring it all together,
all the ragamuffin patches,
all the off cuts, the tartan hash,
mishmash, jumbled pieces
like a plaid portrait of the soul –
stitching together the ‘was’ of before
with the ‘is’ of the now
and the ‘will be’ and ‘wants’ of tomorrow…
Planting soft kisses
where the needle goes,
‘cross the warp and weft,
the width and length and depth
of my heart
You hem in the raw edges
and make straight the seams…
You are the perfect fit for me,
tailor-made,
wonderfully and fearfully knit together
in the secret place…
All I ever want
is to be
the perfect fit
for you.
