The persistence of salt by Alinaswe Lusengo

Alinaswe Lusengo | August 5th, 2020 | poetry | No Comments

the persistence of salt
sticking to wounds
is a lesson

that healing will arrive
but it will ask for pain
the way salt rocks
will always sting split skin

even the ocean holds
this lesson close to her heart
how hurt she must be
to never leave the saltwater behind
