The Stage is a World by Francis Conlon

Poem

The world’s a stage, said the Bard,
With words and powers to bring tears,
But, now the stage’s the world, and a die-hard,
Truth’s strong enough to block out fears.

The glamour is tall and very thin,
Its substance a matter of proportion,
With the right speed for the spin,
Showing beauty, without distortion.

‘Tho this is a dramatic persona,
Exaggerating the human flaws,
It arouses the audience from its coma,
Unlikely will there be curtain calls.

Brave words fly off from the stage,
Characters leap in the spotlight.
I hurry with a turned page,
A denouement from a playful sprite.
