Poet Bio

If the universe is big, and if aliens exist
And a galactic war were to break out in this endless abyss
My species comes first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority over any lifeform the war may find
If the world’s lands altercate, and armed conflicts arise
Between one country and another, vulnerable to demise
My coloured flag comes first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority over any nation the quarrel may find
If prejudice prevails and differences persist
And members of each colour decide they cannot co-exist
My complexion comes first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority over any race the bout may find
If genders seek to destroy one another for some cause
And neither one of the sexes will show some remorse
My fellow males come first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority over the girls, the apples of our eyes
If my community contends, deteriorating from within
And a struggle between homes threatens to harm my next of kin
My family comes first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority over any other living bloodline
If a battle brews between brothers and one them is me
And nature invokes ‘fight-or-flight’ to ensure victory
I, myself, have to come first – the survival of my kind
Takes priority, for I’m the only ‘me’ I’ll ever find
If a struggle comes about between myself and I
And my mind, body and spirit do not wish to harmonize
Who, then, shall come first in a clash of this kind?
For in order to claim victory, I must commit suicide
