There is something about low tide,
an introduction to ocean,
iodine of meaty seaweed
with its proliferation of sand fleas,
flies of greedy garrulous Gulls,
darting marooned minnows
shooting about like comets
in celestial pools, stumps
of feathery anemones cramming food
in their gaping mouths with pliant petals, canny crabs waving castanet pincers
at the buffet, most marvelous
of desperations to live.
