I’ve been kidnapped,
held ransom,
my freedom was at stake.
But the perpetrator was my thoughts,
the nights I spent awake.
I was trapped inside my body,
within a memory – walled box.
There were days
I fought
to set myself free.
Other days I feared,
for my kidnapper haunted me.
But for I was within myself,
the ransom was not paid.
Now dead inside, I lay.
I was kidnapped.
I was killed by my mind.
