Poem

We plaster labour-intensive smiles over traumas and festering emotional wounds,
as modern day life’s unpredictable pendulum swings us from temporary ups to drawn-out downs.
Modern day life systems force us to become adept at existing in survival mode.
We aren’t afforded any moment to reflect or to unpack any psychological or emotional load. We heavily self-medicate as a way of suppressing our anguish,
while somewhere in the background our unfulfilled dreams are coated in dust & languish.
Chasing fanciful and ridiculous indices of success is our bane & archrival.
We live in a system that has reduced human existence to mere survival.
We have allowed ourselves to downgrade to human doings
instead of upgrading & evolving into thriving human beings.
