DO NOT
speak of sacrifice
and commitment,
Without knowing what
they mean
Carry on
as though we had no reason
to leave. Believe
when you said we would fail
A thousand lives
couldn’t make up for
those unforgivable sins
DO NOT
speak of unconditional love
Without learning how to give
A penny
A song
A poem
A kiss
To a loved one
You missed
all those opportunities
when we left.
