Urban Voices is Back!

So it is true. Urban Voices is back!… with a not so fresh but strong line up. Mutabaruka, Jean Binta Breeze and Don Mattera will hold the fort and everybody else, whoever they are, are only described as emerging and established poets from across the country.

Unlike before, the poetry is happening in one weekend. The gigs start today in Johannesburg and end on Sunday in Cape Town. Durban will take place on Saturday.

Most surprising on the line up is Don Materra. A few years ago, one baba Materra announced that he would be retiring from performance poetry. Guess he has come out of retirement… Poetry Potion is not complaining!

Mutabaruka returns, received with some wariness, but don’t take Poetry Potion’s reservations to heart as yet, just hoping to be surprised.

Jean Binta Breeze will definitely be a fresh face as the last time she was on the bill she didn’t make it.

Rounding up the bill is American Patrick Rosall
