Waiting To See The Rainbow by Felix Francois Erasmus

Felix Francois Erasmus | January 30th, 2009 | poetry | No Comments

dust clouds twirl and swirl
thrown in the air over and again
far away a siren screams
and another poor man runs for his life
a gun resounds
and then another

a bird chirps
a mangy cat stalks
wrestle
tear
peck
but of no avail

another casualty
of the new disease
a pregnant mother
gives birth to a funeral cost

the dust clouds blow and billow
covering our city of gold
and all along the streets
we all look up patiently between the clouds
waiting to see the rainbow
the one that was promised
