When I Rule Africa by Chanda Katonga

Poem

When I rule Africa,
there will be no idle hands.
Sacrifice will be a covenant,
discipline its currency.

We will mine with our own hands,
turn ore to industry at our shores.
Lithium, gold, copper
they will feed our factories, not foreign vaults.

Agriculture will no longer bow to hunger.
Farms will hum like machines.
Education will be a right
books for every child, schools at every crossroad.

Data will be guarded as a treasure.
Research will be funded like a temple.
Innovation will be our new religion.

Ports will pulse with finished goods,
not raw ships leaving our hunger behind.
A common market will stitch our borders,
a currency that carries our name.

We will punish corruption with law,
not with the secret blade.
Truth will be the standard.
Transparency, the only armor of power.

Leaders will be craftsmen of the future
trained, tested, and made to step aside.
Power will be a brief loan,
given, used, and returned.

If I rule, I will demand work,
but I will also build the world that rewards it.
No more groveling to foreign thrones.
No more selling of our tomorrow.

We will rise by iron and mind,
by law and long labor.
And if the people choose otherwise,
then let their voice be the final judge.
