Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?

A saying I never understood
Because words have had the ability to break me.

Words start new experiences,
Can break or set you free.
They remind us of what we[restrict] can’t have
And what we’ll never be.

People say that words can’t harm you,
But they could not have been more wrong.
As I am brought to tears every time
I listen to a new love song.

Don’t worry it’s not all bad though.
As words can fix as well.
Sometimes a few letters can lift your spirits.
If you heal, only time will tell.

But they are lying when they say it’s only pleasant melodies!
Liars from our people to the birds.
Because I’ve been hurt countless times,
By the things we call words.

Words have the ability to break, to love

To crush…[/restrict]
