Youth by Alev

Poem

Once I knew about love when I was young
About passions unleashed, of dreams with regrets none
Of roses with myriad thorns, and drops of blood, a jar to fill
And a nauseating chant from the entrails, sticky and syrupy, one that makes you ill
Once I dreamt of passions absolved by youth and a sun of bright gold
For the sun has shed them all, those hues untold
Of ardent songs and lovemaking bold
And grasses jade we dared tread without remorse
For once we thought a jade on vast turfs it grows
Once I knew about a girl when I was young
One with locks of gold to match the sun
Hand me a mirror for her I’ll pursue even though she may be gone
Oh there she is!  A blue sparkle in her eyes passing by
Traveller do stop and linger there for a while…
